COMMISSIONS: If you're wishing to contact me regarding a commission just give me a brief description of the sort of thing you're looking for, the size, medium and it's intended use. I'll get back to you with a rough estimate of price and if you're happy with it we'll go on to the next stage. The next stage is for me to prepare some roughs or sketches of the finished piece. There would be a nominal charge for these depending on what is required (the cost could be indicated in the original quote if required) but it is only payable if the finished art is not proceeded with. A Rough Indication Of Prices: The examples here are quoted in Australian and US Dollars and Euros but I can of course quote in the currency of your choice. (These figures are based roughly on the conversion rates as at April 2007)
Privately commissioned work intended merely for hanging on the wall of your home.and that does not require a great creative input (such as a picture drawn from a photograph) begins at around AU$200 (US$165 or €125) for an A3-sized well-finished pencil drawing. A painting either in acrylics or airbrushed for the same use would be around AU$500 (US$425 or €306). For more creative work that truly embodies all my artistic ideals, finished to what I would consider "gallery-standard", and which would therefore entail many months of work the price range would begin at around AU$3000 (US$2500 or €2000)
Simple commissioned works for commercial use, working to a strict brief, begin at around AU$400 (US$325 or €329) for digital work going up to around AU$4000 (US$3500 or €2500) for handworked and more complex art.
Bookcovers begin at AU$1500 (US$1250 or €950) for a front-cover-only going up to AU$2500 for a wraparound with title and/or text work. Here I prefer to receive a copy of the manuscript to read and a rough guide to image preferrences before I come up with an idea.
SECOND-RIGHTS USE: Most of the art displayed in Galleries 1, 2 and 3 and on the ART FOR SALE page is available for second-rights use. This means that although it has been used previously, as a bookcover or in some other way, the right to use it commercially for another purpose is available to buy. The fee is usually quite small at around AU$50-100 (€30-70 or US$45-85) but this depends on the intended use and other variables including the size of the anticipated market. Sometimes an image will not be available for a particular market as its use might clash with second-rights previously granted and purchased by another company or individual.
